6 Fun Fall Activities in Raleigh To Look Forward To

Fall Activities in Raleigh

Although we loved summer, we’ve been anxiously awaiting fall. It’s a season that feels like new beginnings (can’t quite shake the back-to-school vibe, even when we’re grown up!). Plus, fall fashion has always been one of our favorite sartorial indulgences.

But the best part about fall? The weather is usually perfect – crisp, cool, and excellent for being outside. That’s why we want to be as active as possible during the autumn season, so our calendars are usually pretty full. Looking to do the same? We’ve rounded up the six things that we think should be on your fall to-do list in Raleigh. Go ahead, check them all off!

1. Pumpkin Palooza at Midtown Park

We already told you about the events we think you absolutely can’t miss this season in North Hills, and there’s a reason Pumpkin Palooza was high on that list.

The annual fall festival takes over Midtown Park and it’s crazy fun. First of all, if you’re one of the first 100 families through the door, you get a free pumpkin… so get there early! But perhaps our favorite thing about Pumpkin Palooza is that it’s got something for everyone – all ages, all interests, covered. There’s a “Kid’s Zone” and a beer garden, a tech-heavy scavenger hunt, and live music. Whatever your ideal fall festival looks like, we promise a feature of it is at Pumpkin Palooza.

2. Drink up: hard cider tastings

Did you know that Raleigh has a great craft beer and cider scene? You do now!

And nothing says “taste of fall” like indulging in some crisp hard cider. The apple undertones practically scream autumn, and we’re huge fans of a perfectly cold cider on a sunny fall day. The number of cideries in North Carolina isn’t totally surprising (fun fact – the state ranks seventh in apple production), so get your friends together and take a day trip to a nearby tasting room for some seasonal fun.

BONUS:  Asheville has a Ciderfest every November if you’re seeking an adventure!

3. Explore the vibrant fall colors

Fall foliage: totally cliche for a totally great reason. And while we may be a little biased, we’re pretty sure there’s almost no place better to catch the leaves’ changing colors than North Carolina.

Especially in Raleigh, with its acres upon acres of park lands. Stroll through the greenways this fall and check out the beautiful foliage (we’re only half-kidding when we advise you to charge your phone for the ensuing Instagram).

There are many different routes across the state to catch the views, but our favorite has to be right here in Raleigh. Rent a kayak, paddle along our waterways – and enjoy the view.

4. Hit the bike trails

This combines the gorgeous foliage with our desire to get outdoors, get some exercise – and that beautiful fall weather we’ve been talking about! Grab (or rent) a bike, and hit some of Raleigh’s trails for a day exploring.

The Capital Area Greenway System is Raleigh’s top destination for outdoor activity – a network of trails, all interconnected, that are perfect for walking, jogging and – yep!- riding your bike. They connect to many of the city’s parks, so make a day of it: pack a lunch, enlist a companion or two, and hit the trails for a day exploring the city by bike.

5. For the little ones: BugFest

While creepy crawlies might not be our idea of a good time, we know a lot of tiny scientists who will be totally fascinated by this event. This Saturday, September 17, the NC Museum of Natural Sciences are hosting a free bug-a-palooza (our words, not theirs).

It sounds like a fun way to learn – if you think you can stand it. There’s over 100 exhibits, crafts, games, and activities. Plus, the Museum brings in entomologists for you to chat with and – if you’re truly brave – Cafe Insceta, where you can try dishes prepared with bugs.

Not for the faint of heart, but totally an event that comes with bragging rights.

6. Trivia night!

We saved the good old-fashioned fun for last. Who can argue with a trivia night?

Something about the fall makes us crave long, laughter-filled nights with friends and family. And one of our favorite places to all get together is at trivia nights, where you can have a little competitive fun while testing your knowledge.

Right around the corner, at World of Beer in North Hills, there’s a trivia night every Tuesday at 8! Each evening comes with a chance to win one of three prizes, so there’s a pretty good reason to play. Start studying now… we’ll see you there.

Feel as strongly about fall as we do? Mad we didn’t put “drink a pumpkin spice latte” on the list – or do you have another activity you’re dying to suggest? Visit our leasing office to chat, or just give us a call at 919-694-6521, and we’ll gladly talk all things fall in Raleigh.
