It’s pretty surreal that it’s already September, isn’t it? While it may still be hot outside, we’re more than a little ready for fall: the fashion (booties! Knit sweaters!), the food (pumpkin everything, please) and the activities.
There’s something about a crisp, sunny fall day that makes us want to get outside. And lucky for us, there’s a ton of things to do around North Hills this fall. We’ve listed our five favorite upcoming events below. Check them out, pencil them into your calendar and get ready for some fun! We’ll see you there.
1. Friday Night Tribute Series
We love catching live music – there’s nothing like setting up a blanket, sprawling out with your friends, and spending a beautiful evening outdoors. Even better, though, is catching your favorite bands live. Outside. For free. (Kinda.)
If you shut your eyes during North Hills’ Friday Night Tribute Series, you might just think you’re seeing Fleetwood Mac, Zac Brown Band or even the Beatles (!) in concert. And that works for us. We have each night penciled in on our calendar so we don’t miss a single show.
The fourth season of this series should be a good one – set up like a block party, catch it every Friday from 7-8 p.m. Bring your friends, bring your family – and come ready to dance!
2. Spa and Beauty Week at North Hills
Hopefully, we don’t need to do any more convincing than simply telling you that a “spa and beauty week” exists. Because how indulgent and wonderful does that sound?
It started Monday the 12th. But don’t fret, because you have until September 18th to celebrate! There are great promotions and deals across all of North Hills’ premiere beauty stops throughout the week. Over at Salon Blu, for example, you can snag five foils for $40. And at Massage Envy, treat yourself to a discounted facial.
3. WALK: The Runway Series
Get Thursday, October 6, blocked off on your calendar… because you’re not going to want to miss this special fashion event. That evening, North Hills is partnering with Models for Charity to showcase this year’s hottest fall trends. Come ready to take notes (or create a mental shopping list!), because this lineup is good. Peek at looks from North Hills boutiques like Anthropologie, Apricot Lane, J. McLaughlin, Scout & Molly’s, Vineyard Vines… and more.
Hair and makeup will be done by Blown Away Blow Dry Bar (so you know it’s going to be good), and a portion of the night’s proceeds are going to a good cause – The Food Drive Kid, a non-profit that supports Backpack Buddies!
4. 2016 Raleigh LUNGe Forward 5k Run, Walk, and Rally
Time to get sweaty! On September 25, meet by the Midtown Amphitheater for the Lung Cancer Initiative’s LUNGe Forward. Everything raised during this event fights lung cancer across all of North Carolina – so it’s an exercise that you can feel doubly good about.
You can sign up for the run (or walk) now, but registration continues throughout race day, so there’s no hard deadline you have to meet. But the earlier you sign up, the more you can fundraise… and the top teams will be recognized that day!
In addition to the run, the day will include a special rally (with food and live music) and celebration of lung cancer survivors and their courageous fight. Get all of the information here.
5. Pumpkin Palooza
Nope, we’re not talking about the seasonal drink at Starbucks… North Hills’ Pumpkin Palooza is an annual fall festival that’s both an incredibly fun community event, and a way to aid Duke Children’s Hospital.
On October 22, Midtown Park will turn into the ultimate fall festival. The first 100 families through the gate will get a free pumpkin – just in time for prime Jack-o’-lantern season! Don’t miss out on the Top Shelf Chili Cook-off (featuring favorite Midtown restaurants) and the annual Mystery Scavenger Hunt, which boasts a 1,000 cash prize.
There’s something for everyone: a Kid Zone, complete with inflatable obstacle course, an Adult Trivia Contest – and a Canine Costume Contest! (Oh, and don’t forget to visit the beer garden. We sure won’t.)
You can find full details of the event here, and help support an event and sponsors who are banding together to support the fight against children’s health issues.
Hopefully, we’ve helped fill your calendar and given you some ideas for a great lineup of fall activities. Need more information? Want to tell us about an event we missed?
